Peer Forward

Recognizing that the most influential person to a 17-year-old is another 17-year-old, Peer Forward unleashes teams of influential high school students to perform three powerful tasks for their schools:

  1. Run school-wide peer-to-peer campaigns to increase college application submissions during Michigan College Month, increase FAFSA completion, and increase their peers' understanding of how to plan for college and career.
  2. Train students and faculty in the latest college access and success technology apps like College App Map.
  3. Provide arms and legs for the college counseling staff. In each school, an 8-10 student corps helps counselors extend their impact to reach all students.

During the 2017-18 school year, Ypsilanti Community High School will be hosting its third Peer Forward team!

Last summer from June 29-July 3, 2016, four YCHS captains and one counselor traveled to the the University of Maryland - Baltimore County for Leadership and College Access Training with other Peer Forward teams from around the county:
