Action Teams

Building a college-going culture that inspires all young people to pursue education beyond high school takes an entire community. Communities feel tangible benefits of having neighbors with college degrees or credentials, such as economic growth, civic engagement, reduced poverty, and lower levels of unemployment.

2014-2015 Action Team: FAFSA Completion

During the 2014-2015 school year, Washtenaw Futures launched its first Action Team charged with increasing completion rates for the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, also known as the FAFSA. The team spearheaded Washtenaw County's first annual College Cash Campaign to promote FAFSA completion. Successes included developing a FAFSA Resource Manual (below), an 80% increase in completions at Ypsilanti Community High School and a 47% increase at Ypsilanti New Tech High School (as of May 15, 2015).
